"Experiences Sharing to improve capacity for female officers" by Ministry of Science and Technology

 

On 28/11, in Hanoi, the Committee for the Advancement of Women under the Ministry of Science and Technology together with Viet Nam Women Intellectuals Associations (VWIA) and Women Intellectuals Association under MOST organized the symposium "Experiences Sharing to improve capacity for female officers".

 

Attending the seminar there were Vice Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung, Chairwoman of VWIA - Prof. Pham Thi Tran Chau, Head of MOST VWIA Le Thi Khanh Van and leaders of the agencies under the Ministry of Science and Technology and the majority of the female staff.

 

Speaking at the conference, Vice Minister Tran Van Tung has emphasized the importance of women in general and female staff working in the field of science and technology in particular for the development of today's society. Vice Minister said that the female staff of the Ministry of Science and Technology should continue to promote the inherent performance, accumulate their knowledge and capacity to meet the growing demands of the industry.

 

At the symposium, the audience have also heard many speeches on the issues related to the important role of women in science and technology in general and the MOST in particular, priorities in policies to the staff working in Science and Technology, the barriers hindering the success of female staff ... In particular, the presentation "Women’s Representation in Viet Nam - the role of mentoring to support women leaders" by MA. Jean Munro - Senior Technical Advisor of the United Nations Development Program attracted the attention of female staff in the symposium.

 

The whole symposium discussed together measures to improve the status of women in society as well as the intellectual women working in science and technology for more conditions to develop their own capacity.

 

Closing the symposium, MA. Le Thi Khanh Van – Head of Women Intellectuals Association under MOST once again emphasised the position of women participating in public administration in Viet Nam as well as the importance of female staff against activities of science and technology. Ms. Le Thi Khanh Van said that the female staff in science and technology should continue to improve, to maximize their ability to contribute effectively to the development of national science and technology.
