Use a merit-based hiring system. Encourage women to take more senior positions. Establish an equal retirement age for both women and men. Promote the important role of men in child-care and household management.

On 18 December 1979, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. It entered into force as an international treaty on 3 September 1981 after the twentieth country had ratified it.

Viet Nam has made efforts to increase representation for women, particularly in the National Assembly. The only other way to increase the number of women would be to either establish quotas for female representation in leadership positions or dramatically change the process for leadership selection.
