Ha Tinh, February 3 (VNA) – A workshop to enhance women’s involvement in politics was held in central Ha Tinh province on February 2.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee and the Vietnam Women’s Union (VWU) will work together to increase the rate of women in the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels to 35 percent in the 2016-2021 tenure.

Viet Nam has been greatly concerned about the promotion of equality and the participation of women in politics, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the country.

A workshop entitled “Sharing experience in promoting gender equality in political participation” was held in the central city of Da Nang on December 5.

Women’s participation in politics is one of the key contents of gender equality as it will create more opportunities for women to raise their voice in making policies in various spheres, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan said at a workshop in northern Ha Nam province on December 27.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong made the remark at a workshop held in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on December 14.
